The Control Zero agent is a small local binary that reads your coding-agent sessions and streams them into your private workspace — powering Recall, the knowledge graph, analytics and the Replayer. It runs in the background and takes about a minute to set up.
Open Connect an agent and click Generate API key. The key authorizes the agent to report sessions as you, into your own workspace. Copy it — the next step needs it.
That one command does everything: downloads the agent, logs in with your key, auto-detects Claude Code, backfills your 25 most recent sessions, and installs a background service that runs at login. When it prints Done — the agent is connected and running, you're set.
Check the agent and its backend connection:
Then open the Command Center — within a minute your recent sessions, tools and files appear. New sessions flow in automatically as you work.
Setup syncs your 25 most recent sessions. This re-pushes everything (idempotent — no duplicates), and is how you backfill after a feature update like the Replayer.
detect lists the coding agents it found; add-source watches an extra location.
Re-run the installer any time — it pulls the newest binary and keeps your config.
Stops the service and removes config, state and (with --purge) the binary. Add --yes to skip the prompt. No key handy? curl … | bash -s uninstall. Your cloud data is untouched.
- Your data is yours. Sessions report into your own isolated workspace with your key; no one else can read them. Nothing reaches your team without explicit, revocable consent.
- "not logged in". Re-run install with your key set: CZ_TOKEN=<your key>, or printf %s <key> | cz-agentd login --backend https://dev-cz-intel.controlzero.ai.
- Sessions not appearing? Run cz-agentd sync once, then check cz-agentd status. The agent needs outbound HTTPS to dev-cz-intel.controlzero.ai.
- Adding another machine? Generate a fresh key on Connect an agent and run the installer there — same workspace, no extra config.
